My first attempt at doing some ornamental scroll work. I also tried engraving the leaves with a rotary engraver.
I fixed the finish by heating the piece to 250-300F before applying additional coats and using a blow torch to touch up a few missed spots.
Unfortunately, I managed to snap off a leaf and the blossom and then proceeded to reattach them slightly off center. Note to self: don’t grind away the entire weld.

I had mixed results trying to make a metal flower. The flower turned out all right, but I messed up the linseed oil finish. I overheated the metal causing the oil to burn which gave this a splotchy finish.
